Rejuvenation and Appreciation

DSC_9876resize.png
  • Admire the beauty of the backcountry of the American West in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We can stay at Amangani or the Four Seasons Resort. In the summer, let’s enjoy horseback riding, fishing, and hiking in the Grand Tetons and Snake River Range. Better yet- how about taking in the panoramic view from a hot air balloon? When the snow blankets the plains, we can ski. We’ll recover when we cosy up together in the spa before having dinner.

  • Head outside the country for sun and sand - sans the transcontinental flights! We can create a sensual sanctuary in St. Lucia at Jade Mountain Resort, where rooms overlook the lush Pitons and the Caribbean Sea. Or, we can hide away just off the coast of South America, with our privacy practically guaranteed in Curaçao at the Baoase Luxury Resort.

  • Let’s retreat to the other side of the globe with a trip to the Maldives. Send the butler away once we settle into the suite at the St. Regis Vommuli - I want to go topless in our private pool. At sunset, we will lay in each others arms on the private terrace in our overwater villa; after taking it all in, we can get dressed and head to dinner. For the days after, let’s be beach bums or take up residence in the spa… at least during the times when we aren’t checking out the blue lagoons and extensive reefs.

Adventure & Hobby

  • Partake in an adventurous dive with me in Belize. Of course, we’ll explore the must-see Blue Hole- but we can also get close to nurse sharks and stingrays at Shark Ray Alley. Belize boasts several atolls and the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere: the only place in the world where you can find the whitespotted toadfish.

  • Golf while overlooking the mighty Pacific Ocean at Bandon Dunes - undoubtedly, one of the world’s most beautiful golf resorts. Let’s spend five days tracing the shoreline while playing each of the five courses, then relaxing our muscles at the sauna and in the hot tub. If you need to clear your head to play at your peak, we can enjoy a hike along the Dune Trail or walking meditation in the Labyrinth.

  • Fast cars and beautiful women - timeless hobbies of the most pedigreed men. The glitz and glamour of a Formula One Grand Prix is unmatched by any other sporting event in the world. The Monaco Grand Prix is the perfect way to start off an amazing summer: once the finish line has been crossed, we can relax on a yacht and sail along the coastline in the south of France. Alternatively, let’s abandon the November cold for a the Formula One season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Dining

  • We’ll journey to the North to Copenhagen, Denmark, one of the most veritable food cities in the world. Plenty of critically acclaimed restaurants - like Geranium and Alouette - call this city home, but Noma is what we came here for. Between each amazing meal, we can admire the city’s architectural wonders on bike. Let’s wander into a coffee shop for a mid-day cup of coffee before roaming Krystalgade for shopping. Before departing, we will almost certainly find some of the world’s most interesting and well-crafted furniture. Order it for home as a souvenir.

  • When one thinks of France, two things come to mind: fashion and food. In Paris, the capital city, there is an exceptional meal to be had on every corner of every street. Who can resist the temptation of a carb when the smell of warm, buttery croissants and sweet breads rises from the boulangerie to flood your room every morning? Enjoy the most indulgent calories from afternoon tea at Le Dali and stroll the gardens of Paris by day; watch me strut in the masterpiece designs of Christian Louboutin at night. Let’s make arrangements at Epicure, a “temple of gastronomy”, and enjoy the white Burgundy wines that are so hard to find in the U.S. On our last night, we can ditch the white tablecloths and wine for cocktails at Little Red Door, named one of the world’s best bars, before the show at Crazy Horse.

  • Singapore boasts what is likely one of the world’s most diverse food scenes because of its prime location and rich history. There’s no need to be pretentious while eating here; the “cheap eats” at the food courts and the street food stalls rival their more formal sit-down restaurant counterparts. Les Amis and Shoukouwa are must visits, but the rest of our time can be spent roaming the city. Thank goodness for that - we’ll probably want to focus on exploring the landmarks of Singapore, like the Sands SkyPark and infinity pool at the iconic Marina Bay Sands or the Gardens by the Bay.

Sightseeing & Exploring

  • Few countries inspire recurring wanderlust more profoundly than Italy - a country full of idyllic landscapes, crave-worthy foods, and incredible cityscapes. Where to start? Anywhere, really! A proper meal and espresso will be much needed after the long flight into Rome - so a stroll through the food market at Nuovo Mercato Esquilino will bring welcome delights. After a scenic train ride, we’ll arrive in the glamorous metropolis that is Milan. Together, we can brave the crowds to gaze upon Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous Last Supper at Santa Maria delle Grazie church and shop for designer threads, including a new custom Italian suit for you, at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. In Florence, we’ll climb to the top of the Duomo… then sit in the dining room of Felix Lo Basso, which overlooks the famed cathedral! The next day, let’s take a bike ride through the vineyards of Tuscany and stop for tastes of Chianti; of course, we’ll need a car back by the time we’ve had our fill of wine and truffles! It’ll be hard to choose between Capri, Lake Como, or the Amalfi Coast- but the scenery at any of the three is bound to leave us breathless. We can wake up late for breakfast (a necessity, considering the fact we’ll consume copious amounts of alcohol in this country: wine is often cheaper than water), before enjoying a relaxing waterside stroll, a boat ride, or a hike.

  • It’s no wonder that the people of Ancient Greece believed in gods and goddesses: the beauty of Greece would make any mortal being wonder about a higher power. It’s a place we’ll want to visit again and again, since there is something in Greece to fit every interest and disposition. Athens is a natural choice, and worth spending a day or two after our arrival before venturing whichever of the over 1,000 islands we’ve decided to visit on our trip. Our visit to the Acropolis and the Parthenon will, undoubtedly, prompt a stimulating intellectual conversation about the past, present, and future of civilization over dinner. During the day in Santorini and Mykonos, we will navigate down the cliffside in our swimwear on our way to enjoy the dazzlingly beautiful beaches; at night, we’ll dance the night away as the moon and stars twinkle above us. In Naxos and Crete, we can spend our day hiking and devouring the best Mediterranean food before privately worshipping each other’s heavenly physiques.

  • Peru is the ultimate destination for a mini-sabbatical: the country will remind you of how amazingly beautiful life can be, and my company will restore your faith in humanity. On the west coast of the country lies the mighty Pacific Ocean as you’ve never seen her before; further inland, the rivers wind through the country’s many valleys, canyons, and mountains, abruptly descending to create waterfalls before pooling into lakes and lagoons. No trip to Peru is well done unless it includes a journey through the clouds to the hilltop home of Macchu Pichu, the well-preserved Inca citadel. Afterwards, we can appreciate the immense biodiversity that’s hosted in Peru on our journey through the Sacred Valley or Colca Canyon. Before the flight back, we will reacquaint ourselves with city life in Lima, taking our last bites of authentic Peruvian cuisine and deepening our understanding of South American history and culture at one of the many museums.
